Hydraulic pump systems are common place in the majority of construction projects, so it will likely come as a surprise to most that there are no Deemed to Satisfy (DtS) solutions for the design and installation of pump systems under the current plumbing and drainage standards (AS/NZ 3500 Parts 1, 2, 3 & 4)
This means that currently, every proposed pump installation requires a Performance Solution as part of the approval process.

DtS provisions for the design and installation of hydraulic pump systems have been proposed by the Australian Building Codes Board, meaning that if adopted, Performance Solutions will no longer be required - You can have your say on the proposal here: https://lnkd.in/gUhZfY8e

Until changes are made to include DtS provisions, pump system design should be addressed as a Performance Solution. Whilst some practitioners may choose to ignore this requirement, given the risk to health, safety and property posed by pump failure, why would you risk it?
