Performance Solutions for Swimming Pools?

Most in the industry are now familiar FP1.4 Performance Solutions required to address weatherproofing for external walls / roofs of habitable buildings, but how many are familiar with GP1.1 Performance Solutions for Swimming Pool drainage?

Much like BCA Performance Requirement FP1.4, there is no Deemed to Satisfy (DtS) Solution for GP1.1, meaning a Performance Solution is required to comply with the BCA.

Whilst it is frustrating that BCA compliance cannot be achieved without the need for Performance Solutions, this unfortunately does not change statutory compliance requirements. So if your development includes a swimming pool or spa, CCG recommend discussing with your consultant team how GP1.1 (or P2.2.4 for pools associated with houses) has been addressed.

Passive Fire News: The Australian Building Codes Board has announced that the concession permitting reliance on old AS 1530 fire test and assessment reports has been extended to 1 September 2022. For fire stopping products, this means test reports and assessment reports verifying systems achieve a Fire Resistance Level based on a pre 2014 version of the standard fire test (AS 1530.4) will be able to be relied upon up until 1 September this year. It is important to note that whilst this date aligns with the adoption of BCA 2022, the change was actually introduced in BCA 2019 to allow a transitional period for the industry to comply. As such, from 1 September practitioners working on projects approved under BCA 2019, BCA 2019 amendment 1 and BCA 2022 will need to ensure they have current fire test and assessment reports.
